Ensuring LNG safety: Svanehøj’s gauging systems for all four tanks at Gate Terminal
The expansion of Gate Terminal in the Netherlands with a new, fourth storage tank underlines Svanehøj’s role as a trusted provider of LNG safety solutions.
At Svanehøj, we are proud to be among the trusted suppliers for the new, fourth storage tank at Gate Terminal B.V.’s LNG storage and regasification facility in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Once completed, all four tanks at Gate Terminal will be equipped with Svanehøj’s gauging systems, reinforcing a shared commitment to safety and efficiency in LNG storage.
The Gate Terminal expansion includes a new 180,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tank and an additional regasification capacity of 4 billion cubic meters annually. In December 2024, the project reached a significant milestone by successfully lifting a massive 725-tonne metal roof to the top of the newly constructed tank, completing the project’s second phase. The next phase includes the mechanical assembly of the reservoir, with the goal of beginning hydraulic testing before the end of 2025.
Svanehøj contributes to the project by providing advanced gauging systems that ensure precision and safety in LNG storage. For Gate Terminal, we will provide a comprehensive instrumentation solution for the new storage tank, ensuring precise monitoring and measurement of temperature, density, and level variations in the stored LNG.
The Svanehøj tank gauging systems serve as a unifying element for LNG terminals along the European shores, from La Coruña in Spain to Świnoujście in Poland, all opting to use the Svanehøj LTD gauge for accurate density measurements.
